Minutes Summary
April 13, 2009

Commission: Jerry Glass, David Kennedy, Tom Lindsay & Eddie Hiott
CALL TO ORDER:
Mr. Glass called the meeting
to order at 6:25 p.m.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
There were no public
comments.
OLD BUSINESS MINUTES:
Mr. Kennedy made a motion, seconded by Mr. Lindsay to accept
the March 9th meeting minutes with grammatical corrections. All in
favor, motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORTS:
Mr. Kennedy made a motion,
seconded by Mr. Lindsay, to accept the financial reports as submitted for the
period ending March 31, 2009. All in
favor to approve financial reports ending March 31, 2009, motion carried.
PROJECT STATUS REPORT:
Selection of coaches:
Mr. Stuber provided a copy
of the handbook that states that the Athletic Coordinator has the authority to
make the selection of coaches for the teams.
Mr. Hiott added that he
thought the selection this season was good and well thought out.
Mr. Stuber asked the
Commission if a more detailed explanation needed to be put in writing. Mr. Glass answered no, that the handbook was
sufficient and there is no need to change it.
Insurance Prices for Parks:
Mr. Stuber informed the
Commission that he has spoken to the City’s Finance Director and the City
Administrator and they have agreed to pick up all the insurance for all the
parks.
RECREATION
REPORTS:
Recreation Division:
Mr. Glass asked who was
paying for the new two membership cards that will be taking place of charging
people $5 for losing their card. Mr.
Stuber answered that it will be coming out of the budget. Mr. Stuber also expressed that he hoped this
will solve the problem of people losing their card and the staff refusing to
let them in to workout.
Maintenance Division:
Mr. Stuber informed the Commission that the fields are done
and ready for baseball and soccer season.
Mr. Stuber also informed the Commission that a contractor has been hired
to put some top soil and sprigs at
Mr. Kennedy asked why the maintenance staff can’t take care
of this job. Mr. Stuber answered that
the maintenance staff is not equipped to do the sprigs properly.
Directors Report:
Mr. Stuber stated that the
Sports Spectacular will be Saturday April 18th and all baseball and
soccer pictures will be taken that day. This
Sports Spectacular will be a lot of fun for all the kids. The jump castle will be blown up and there
will also be vendors selling different products.
Mr. Stuber also informed the
Commission that the Symphony under the Stars is Saturday night April 18th
at the City of Goose Creek Municipal Center.
The Symphony will start at 7pm and end at 9pm with fireworks.

Mr. Lindsay made a motion, seconded
by Mr. Hiott, to adjourn the meeting at 6:40 p.m. All in favor, motion carried.

2009 at 6:00 p.m.
