COMMISSION MEETING- Minutes Summary

Call to Order
The
meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Chairman Jerry Glass.
Public Comments
None
at this time.
Minutes
Mrs.
Trevino made a motion to approve the minutes, of January 11th with
the addition that policies enacted by the Commission be placed in the minutes;
seconded by Mr. Kennedy; all in favor.
Financial Reports
Mr. Kennedy made
a motion to approve the financial reports as submitted for the period ending
January 31, 2010; motion was seconded by Mrs. Trevino, all in favor
Project Status Report
Oak Creek Park
Mr.
Stuber informed the Commission that the playground equipment at Oak Creek Park
is up and the kids have been playing on it.
Mrs. Trevino expressed her concerns about the new area being taken care
of by the residents. Mr. Stuber assured
the Commission that the committee that he has been working with from the
neighborhood will keep an eye on the property.
Mrs.
Trevino asked if the manhole covers have been secured. Mr. Stuber answered yes that Chris Fesler has
tied them down to prevent any further vandalism.
Analysis of Programs:
Mr.
Stuber passed out two reports that cover last year’s numbers for participation
and this year’s participation. Mr.
Kennedy asked if a graph chart could be produced. Mr. Stuber replied yes. Mr. Stuber informed the Commission that the
Mayor is trying to get Devon Forest to come into the City boundaries.
The
Commission expressed their concerns regarding Devon Forest. Mr. Stuber suggested that the Commission
allow the Mayor to work on Devon Forest and see where it leads.
New Business
Parks Report:
Mr.
Stuber updated the Commission on the progress of the baseball fields. With baseball and softball season upon us the
maintenance crew has been working hard to get the fields ready for play.
Recreation Report:
Mr.
Stuber updated the Commission on the interest he has had from people about the
Community Garden.
Director’s Report
Mr.
Glass addressed the Commission with an article about children and obesity. Mr. Kennedy added that the staff should stay
involved in the community by going to PTA meetings and schools to promote the
area parks and activities.
Mr.
Glass suggested that the staff use the article as an opportunity to try to get
a grant to help with the topic of children obesity.
Adjournment
Mr.
Kennedy made a motion to close the meeting at 6:45pm; the motion was seconded
by Mr. Terre, all in favor.

next regularly scheduled meeting is March 8th, 2010 at 6 p.m.
